I used a Ray-Allen sensor for the elevator trim on my G3X. It is a 5,000 ohm potentiometer.

I am using a Dynon D1000, it will take a potentiometer between 1K and 20k, I want to use a linear plunger type sensor and mount it the same as Kitfox.
The Kitfox unit I purchased about a year ago is a plunger type potentiometer with about 14mm of travel end-to-end. It's mounted in a machined aluminum channel with a single AN-3 bolt hole and the wire harness is encapsulated in what appears to be a blob of Hysol. The resistance range is from 100Ω to 5.65kΩ.

The included mounting and actuating brackets are pretty simple galvanized steel weldments that are glued to the airframe and horizontal stab structure.

Eric thank you for the reply, the Ray Allen position sensor has a 5 ohm potentiometer the Ray Allen Trim Servo also uses 5 ohm's for position so it seems most of these indicators use 5 ohm's that most probably is to match the Ray Allen indicator. The Dynon can use a range of potentiometers as it has a calibration wizard and I guess the Garmin can also. I have found what I think is the same potentiometer and will order the 5 ohm variant that way it will give me the option to use a Ray Allen indicator which I already have several of.
I think you mean 5K ohm, not 5 ohm, right?

Can anyone help me troubleshoot the wiring for the kitfox supplied trim indicator? I’m using dynon skyview. I found an old post that said to run the white wire to signal (pin4 on dynon ems) the blue wire to power, and the orange wire to ground. I have it hooked as stated but I get a red X over my trim display. Thanks!

From the Skyview manual, remember it requires 5v, and you will have to configure which pin you have used in mapping.
