After the first 4 hours of flight testing on my Model 4 1200, I have started to question the utility of these interior butt-rib block-outs. I did not find anything in the build manual about adding these. They seem superfluous, I am guessing something added by the original builder in Michigan to help prevent cold airflow coming through the wing roots. The problem is, they make it very difficult to see the fuel sight tubes.

Does anybody have anything like this in their aircraft, or are these just needless added weight ?
