Heading up to Oshkosh this afternoon for weekend work party to start getting things ramped up for the show. I'll report back with any new info that is given to us.

Not much in the way of new projects was reported to us at the work party. Due to logistics and supply problems most big projects except for the museum expansion are now on the back burner. Moving the ultralight field to the southwest is now not expected before 2024. On a sad note, if you're looking for shade during the show, another 500 elm trees have been lost due to the emerald ash borer. Spent the weekend helping build new and much larger signs for the tram stops. About 50 volunteers showed up.

Rick, that is sad news on the loss of so many of the EAA grounds ash trees. Are there plans for replacement of those lost? Shade is a valuable commodity at EAA AirVenture.
I remember when the Dutch Elm disease rampaged throughout the midwest years ago. It completely changed the historical look of so many upper midwest communities. We lost the focal point tree in our yard on Hall Lake in Fairmont, MN. It was well over 100 years old at the time.
Again, thanks for all your years of volunteer service to the EAA members Rick. 😀👍

Steve, although it wasn't mentioned I'm sure they're looking for replacement trees. You can look around the grounds and see dead trees everywhere. There are around 200 that still need to be taken down. I know they chose the ash because it grows relatively fast and produces a nice canopy. All of the cut down trees are being chipped and the mulch will be used on the grounds. The wood is quarantined and can't leave Winnebago county. I'm going back up in 2 weeks and will ask what they have in mind for replacement. Thank you for the kudos.

For those of you lucky ones that will be flying your Kitfox into Airventure, the 2022 Airventure NOTAM has been released. Haven't looked at it myself but there are some changes again this year.

Second work weekend complete. Asked if high fuel prices could impact attendance, no one wanted to hazard a guess except maybe some of the one day attendees may think twice but so far advance ticket sales are doing well. Given the high fuel cost still had about 50 show up so might be an indication people will come anyway. As far as replacing the lost trees, they are, but due to budget constraints not high on the priority list. They're paying about $40 for small maple saplings. Museum work is almost complete with grand opening next month.
