Thread: Fuel Tank Filler bond

  1. #1

    Default Fuel Tank Filler bond

The pictures below show the left fuel tank filler. Should I be worried about the white ring with some fiber ends sticking out? The fibers are in the resin, not sticking up loose. My right tank filler looked a lot cleaner.

When you received your kit, there should have been instructions for flushing the tank, after which you need to test for leaks. That process should resolve any doubts you may have about the seal of the tank filler neck.

Also, looking at your pictures you can see a doubling layup of glass around the inside flange of the metal filler neck.

Thanks Ralph. I thought it might be ok but I wanted someone with more experience to look at it. I've got the pressure test happening now.
