    Default Stick Boots

I apologize for the crooked pictures. (Or maybe the Fox is going vertical...)
I bought a used Consew industrial sewing machine last year during the lockdown. I finally used it yesterday. Made the first stick boot out of some old leather. I made some patterns if anyone needs something like this. It was my second attempt. These patterns work well. I glued it to an aluminum backing ring. I cut a slit in the front of the boot because the grip is not removable on the right side and it needs to fit over the grip. I used waxed thread and a baseball stitch to close up the front. I didn’t need to cut the slit on the left but I wanted the practice.

Here’s some pictures on a layout mat. You can figure the shape from the graph. The taper is the critical part so the stick moves freely. Also the top may need some reduction in size for a snug fit on the tube unless you open it up and put in a zipper or the stitching. That helps to make the top tight on the stick. The top gets folded over and stitched for prior to the last side sewn in place or you will be cutting a slit in order to sew the top. I used waxed lacing cord in the top to sinch it tight. Took some trial and error. I made a practice one first.

Note: when the top is folded under and sewn it matches the tube diameter and is snug. As long as you sew on the stitch lines at the top.

    Looks great!!
Here’s a couple more pictures of my right boot. I installed my grip and ptt/trim wires in before I made the boot, so I had to have the top open to go over the grip. Which required me to stitch the top closed.
