    Default Kitfox training.

Does anyone besides stick and rudder do training in kitfox aircraft? I need a tail wheel endorsement and would like to do it in a kitfox if I could. Insurance wants 10 hours in type to get coverage for first flight.
I was told stick and rudder was booked up for this year is why I'm asking. I was planning on going there.

I don’t know anything about this company but I plan on looking into it in the future. They are in northern Texas. https://halt-av.com

Harlan - once you get your tail-wheel endorsement, check out AC 90-116 for an excellent way to break into your own plane. Check with your planned insurance company (or, seek quotes/advice from other companies) and get a QP (qualified pilot per the AC) named on your insurance and go fly! I used this AC to be able to have the plane insured from first flight and on. My QP did the first flight for me and then we flew together under the AC until I met the insurance company's insured pilot requirements. Like most ACs, this one has to be read more than once to pick up all of the nuances and alternative ways of compliance. I don't know why more builders don't use it but that's for someone else to figure out. If I have hit the correct key sequence, a copy is attached for your reading pleasure. AC_90-116-1.pdf

That is a interesting read and sure would be a nice way to go. There are no kitfox qualified instructors that I know of in my area. My insurance says if I get 10 hours in type they will cover me from the first flight. So that's why I want to get my tailwheel training in a kitfox if possible. Thanks Darrel, Harlan

I went up to Stick and Rudder last July and Paul mentioned that https://halt-av.com is run by a guy who used to work for him at Stick and Rudder.
My S7 should be done sometime this summer and he recommend them for a refresher before flying the new plane.

Pardon me for reviving an older thread.....

I would like to get a few hours and a flight review in a KF 5-7 before flying mine to make sure I good to go before my first flight. Other than the ones listed on this thread, are there any others that maybe new to the game?

Stick and rudder is too busy and I don't have the funds to get there anyway.

I am 20 pounds (of lean muscle mass!) too heavy for Halterman's light sport.

I can suggest Tim Gardner out of Reno NV as he was the gentleman that did my tailwheel training. I tried to get lined up with Fred MONTHS in advance and he was all booked up - same with stick and rudder. Went to my local pilot watering hole and started shooting the **** with a few people and Tim came up. He was an EXTREMELY safe instructor, was the type of instructor that would let you make mistakes to learn from them, but never once did I feel pressured or unsafe - his "toy" flier is a Christian Eagle that he flies the hell out of aerobatic style.

I dont know if he would appreciate me putting his info up online so please reach out via PM and ill gladly provide his contact info to yall there.
