Voltage Regulator blown fuse

My 912 ULS has been starting fine recently but all of a sudden it wouldn't start. No stumbling, pops, misfires, nothing but the engine turns over fine. When I checked the fuses I found the 30 Amp fuse protecting the voltage regulator wire blown. I have the Ducati VR. Any guesses out there on what might cause that fuse to blow? Is there a way to check the continuity and ohm out the voltage regulator? If this fuse were to blow in flight would the engine keep running?

If the Ducati VR is found to be failed are there better replacements out there?

I am working on a new build and I decided to use the B&C VR. Seems there a higher % of problems with the Ducati. Others on this forum suggested the B&C. I have used other B&C products and have been satisfied.

Which B&C VR did you get and where did you buy it from?

I bought it directly from B&C, they have one that is for the Rotax engine Give them a call. 3162838000

Yes, your engine should continue to run. The ignition power (from the dynamo) is independent, electrically, from the charging/ship’s power circuit on the 912ULS.

As a follow up: In troubleshooting the electrical schematic I found that I had the voltage regulator's capacitor wired with a reverse polarity and it was shorted out and blowing the fuse. I ordered a new cap and I hope it didn't burn out anything in my Ducati VR. While I'm waiting for the new cap to come does anyone know of a simple way to check the VR with a multimeter to see if it is still OK? Rotax seems to have little or nothing in their manuals about troubleshooting this VR.
