Default Horner wingtip light mount instructions

Anyone have any info/instructions on the "wing tip bubbles" (thats the name on the labels. They are the wingtip light standoffs) for the horner tips. Not sure how much to trim and if they "inset" into the wingtip or go over the wingtip.

    Thanks

Jerry - I believe what I have is the Hoerner type tip and if so here is a picture of the lens ("wing tip bubble"?) inserted:

I have the Hoerner wing tip and also not sure if the following is the "wing tip bubble" that you inquired about but here is another possible option to consider:

As the picture shows I attached the "bubble" to the outside of the tip with Hysol and rivets. I had to trim the inside edges of the bubble before attaching it to the tip in order to get a better conformity to the wing tip at the interface. The raw untrimmed bubble didn't conform well to the tip contours, but after a lot of trimming I finally attached it and blended the interface of the two with filler.

Ok.....So they go over the existing wing tip. Mine are not even close to fitting. I guess, grinding, cutting, sanding......

Mine weren't close to fitting either. I did a LOT of dremel grinding and sanding and filing.

You really don't need the rivets; Hysol is fine and it makes the sanding and fairing easier.

Larry, did you run in the same issue as me with the lead edge of the wingtip matching up to the lead edge of the wing?

Hmmm - I guess I don't have the Hoerner tip and I sure don't have that bubble. Oh well, guess I don't need one either.

    Jerrytex

I cut and trimmed a short piece of the plastic leading edge and Hysol'd it place as shown in the picture below. That gave the wing tip something to hang on to.
