Thread: Prime inside rudder torque tubes?

Default Prime inside rudder torque tubes?

    Hi everyone,
Finally getting back to the build after dealing with several family problems over the summer.
I was about to assemble my first rudder assembly but I'm wondering if I should protect the inside of the tubes with something more than Corrosion X, or the like. From the sanding / filing has left scratches inside and using my new borescope, the powder coat is spotty. What have you guys done here?

I just greased them up good when I put it together for the last time.

This might be one of those "your mileage may vary" things, but I found that I had to remove 100% of the powder coating inside the ends of those tubes in order to get my rudder pedals to pivot freely when installed and torqued. I too am counting on the well lubed aspect to fend off corrosion.

Same as Alex and Harlan. I had to sand them pretty well to get the smoothness I wanted. I busted greased them prior to final assembly.

Used in the lift struts. Works really good.
