I'm finally at a point where I can start working on my Kitfox IV project. This will be a total ground up rebuild. The airplane has a Rotax 912UL and I am looking at cabin heater options for the airplane. I like the looks of the one from Kitplane Parts and the fact that it has foot exits, and three hose outlets for defrost, and panel vents. What I am not sure about is if it has enough output to keep me warm on cold days. I live in northern Illinois and I plan to fly year round in temperatures as low as 0-10 deg F.

I did a search and found some post on folks that are going this route, but nothing about the actual real life performance.

So has anyone had one of the Kitplane Parts heater systems and can comment on how well it works in the cold?

Also, if anyone has other options I would be open to suggestion. The airplane had an automotive heater core with a large CPU type fan on it. Previous owner said it worked really well, but I would like the defrost capability in particular.

Thanks.
