    [QUOTE=Av8r3400;96528]

"In my opinion: ..... If they are not heavy, don't replace them. The new ones offered by Rotax are problematic, yet again."

When I first read your statement, I assumed it didn't include the parts associated with the newest release of Rotax's "improved" floats (3 Dec 2020 release of SB-912-074UL). But - in case it did, thought it best to ask and verify. I had already ordered the latest version when I read your post and assumed that they were too new to have been included. Now I'm second guessing that assumption.

    Thanks, Darrel

Does anyone know where I can buy the 5 year rubber replacement kit? I am having a very hard time finding this 5-yr rubber replacement kit and do not want to have to order each item seperately. I have searched the LEAF catalog, Aircraft Spruce website, KitfoxAircraft.com, and Lockwood Aero and I cant find it anywhere. I can find a 5yr kit for the carbs but not the full kit.

I know this rubber replacement probably isnt necessary but the manual says "do it" so I am going to do it.

I bought blue silicone coolant and oil hoses from NAPA for less than $300, 5/8" in place of 16mm coolant, 1/2" oil and 1" coolant.

I am not aware of any 5-year "kit" except for the carbs. The rest of it is basically hoses and everyone's hoses are somewhat different; however you can order the small engine coolant hoses from a Rotax dealer (they are metric). I know its a pain, but you will have to measure and order all the other hose individually. Many folks take this opportunity to upgrade some hoses to "lifetime" silicone or Teflon.

If you bought your firewall forward kit from Kitfox, just look at the parts list on that kit and reorder the hoses from Kitfox. I did that for the hoses I was not upgrading and it made the ordering process easier.

Not sure why I did not think of this! Thanks!

There is a kit to replace the rubber within the fuel pump system. 912is Rotax part number 889537.
I tried installing Silicone coolant hoses from Auto parts sources. It is difficult to source bent stuff unless it is in your hand. I ended up ordering
new Rotax Silicone hoses. I didn't like how the straight silicone hose resists a radius bend. It likes to collapse with minimal radius. All the hoses specifically on the
engine will be replaced with Rotax Formed Hose parts. The unfortunate thing is that the Rotax Silicone is ugly brown. Had I known that I would have sourced
brown for those segments that I do have installed to the cabin heat as well as the hoses directly attached to the main radiator. I have a fairly good segment of
silicone hose I can't use so Ive waisted money in the end. You can download the Rotax Parts Manual from the FlyRotax website. Good luck.

Is this hyper-inflation or am I missing something? I added all the rubber 912ULS parts to my cart at LEAF and its $3,558!!!! What happened to the $700 number I see people mentioning?

    Dan,

Curious why the three fuel hose assemblies are included? I believe that they are teflon and if that is what you have on the engine they are considered to be lifetime parts. $2,000 for the three assemblies is a really big part of the estimate. If you don't have the teflon fuel hose assemblies on your engine, Gates Barricade fuel injection hose is pretty inexpensive by comparison. Slip on firesleeve can be reused unless it is damaged.

    Dan,

On our S7, which was built before Rotax invented the expensive Teflon fuel hoses, automotive fuel hoses with slip on firesleeve were what was used from the firewall to the carbs - although the automotive fuel hoses do require 5 year replacement - the cost is barely $50 and the firesleeve can be reused.

FWIW - on the high buck teflon hoses, the outer red material is essentially an integrated firesleeve so they don't use a separate slip on firesleeve.

The Gates barricade automotive fuel injection hose is also a low permability product so in those cases where it is used inside the cockpit (like from the wing tanks to the header tank) they won't stink up the cockpit. Standard fuel hose will allow enough fuel to permeate the hose and you will smell it. I also use the smooth band fuel injection hose clamps rather than the plain screw hose clamps as they are easier on the hose.

I noticed that the list also included a bunch of rubber isolators with threaded studs and others called "buffers". I think these these are used on the ignition mounting brackets but I wouldn't replace them - unless they are damaged or deteriorating.

If In doubt about any of this stuff, contact Kitfox - thay have it all no matter which rotax engine you have.
