Ok, I'll pull the little filter upstream from the pumps next time I'm out at the airport and make sure it's clean.

Next question - has anyone been able to find a source for the new XPS SAE 5W-50 oil Rotax is recommending in SI-915 i-001? https://rotax.my.salesforce-sites.co...AO?asPdf=false

The only stuff I can find on the XPS Lubricants website is 10W-50 and Aircraft Spruce doesn't have it.

I'm nowhere close to changing mine yet, but I didn't realize that I needed to drill/cut a vent hole in the blow-off line and oil has been syphoning off. Oops.

A quick search showed both Lockwood and Advanced Powerplant Solutions ( formerly LEAF) have it on their sites. $19.10.

I have close to 600 hours and still find fiberglass in my prescreen fyi. What kind of egts are you seeing? Rotax run uncomfortably hot in my opinion. Straight avgas runs cooler egts than 91 fyi.

Welp, Phase I is pretty much done! Maybe a couple more tasks to redo in the EAA Flight Test Manual, but that?s just for refinement, not safety.

I?m curious if anyone has put turbulator tape on their flaperons? If so, how?d it work? Any noticeable change to slow speed flight characteristics - either better or worse, lower stall speed, etc?

With about 3000 RPM I can get the stall down to 32mph with the STi wing. Power off is somewhat higher, 38-ish.

You are way under my stall speeds. 38ish with power and 43mph no power stall. You are doing good!

I should qualify my statement - when I analyze the garmin logs the ASI bottoms out at 32, before I recover.

When I?m looking/watching the ASI tape, it shows about what you see, too. 38 mph at 3000 rpm, 42 at idle.

Stick an SD card into your Garmin before you fly, then upload the data log into the Pilot Logbook at https://fly.garmin.com/fly-garmin/logbook/#/list, then click the ?Details? link on the far right of your flight. You have to select the ASI dropdown to graph the airspeed overlayed on the altitude, and you can get the ?real? stall speed.

You might be getting better stall speeds than you know, Harlan.

I'll have to check that out. I can get below 20 when I'm headed straight up and doing a hammer head turn. Haha

    😂🤣😂🤣

Speaking of high angle of attacks, during my light weight, forward CG tests, I had about 7 gal - 3.5 gal each side - in the tanks and climbing at Vx I briefly starved the fuel pumps of fuel. It stuttered and let me tell you that was exciting!

Tell us more?! With the header tank that shouldn?t happen? What did your data log look like?
