Default Anti corrosion treatment after reaming elevator hinge tab?

    Hi all,

I am just restarting my project and I already have a question.

did you apply some sort of anti corrosion treatment on the bare metal after reaming the powder coated parts such as elevator hinge tabs? If so, what did you use?

    Thanks in advance!

Looking at other threads, Boeshield T9 seemed to come up a lot so I just used it for the time being (I happened to have some packaged for bicycle chains). The bottle had a very small tip and it made easier to apply it to small spaces...

If I remember right, you press in bushings using the green Loctite. That should seal it up against corrosion I would think.

I agree with Jim & Phil... clean the T9 off good first!

Yes I figured that would be sufficient for the bushings. I meant the tabs on the elevator.

I wouldn't worry about this too much. You could put something on it now to protect it like oil, grease, LPS3, etc. Once the plane is finished there is going to be lubricant on it which will protect the bare surface.

If you are in a highly corrosive area it would be good to apply some type of protection for now.

lanolin is great for coating metal, available at your local drug store, just warm it up a little and then it flows on it's own .. also use it on machine bolts into nutplates etc
