    Default Airventure 2020

For all those who may have missed it or don"t receive info from EAA, yesterday Jack Pelton issued a statement concerning this years Airventure. As of now, EAA is planning on the show as scheduled July 20-26. However, with the COVID 19 virus, a decision on whether to go ahead as planned, postpone or cancel the show will not be made until at least May at the earliest or possibly later. So I guess I'm suggesting those of you who are making hotel/motel or any type of lodging reservations, car/rv rental reservations or anything that requires a deposit, to be sure you have some type of cancellation protection. I'm signed up for the first volunteer work weekend which is set for May 2-3. As of today, it has not been cancelled.

Stay safe, take care of yourself and family and hopefully we can all meet at the show in July.

Just received email from EAA HQ. Airventure 2020 has been cancelled. See you next year. I hope !! Unfortunately, it's the correct call.

I am also, Larry. While far from any kind of record, I've flown my homebuilt airplanes to OSH 21 times so far... this would have been the second year for my Kitfox. A group of us in this area are considering some other kind of flying adventure instead. A planned Alaska trip in June is a probable no-go now.

Bummed. I first attended Oshkosh in 1985. Been every year since except for 3. That first year I saw a little airplane in Dan Denny's booth. I looked it over and said I could build that!. Took 15 years before I ordered my series 5 kit. Counting down the days until next year.

Sad, but not really a surprise.

Looking out a ways...… This is not even close to official and would likely never happen. But what if there were a STOL strip at the very south end of the S40 parking/camping area? Would any Kitfoxer's be interested in landing and camping there? About 1000' in length. 500' pattern w downwind to the south. Buses, store, showers, etc. already there. Potential conflict with Rwy 36.

Maybe this is the year EAA should move it! Never enjoyed it because it’s too hot! Fall Oshkosh sounds much better!
