Mining strip West of Lake Alamo.
Very smooth except right at the parking end and great place for a very quiet breakfast stop.
Bring you own breakfast of course.

This landing “spot” is called “The Chain” for obvious reason.
Left here by the Army Corps of Engineers prior to WW2.
when they used this Navy anchor chain to clear a large area of desert brush for a flood water control project.
They pulled it between two D-8 dozers to remove trees and brush from the work area.
Some locals used two Jeeps to form it into a heart design just recently. Chain has
Navy showing on some links still.

This “strip” is called “The Arrow”.
My nose wheel is stopped on the beginning of the arrow.
It’s been here for many years but little if anything is know as to why it was placed here.
It points straight West. Maybe for early aviators heading from Phoenix to Los Angeles.
Just speculation but no idea really.

We call this area “The Badlands”.
Reminds me of the South Dakota Badlands but on a slightly
    smaller scale.

This one way in/out spot is called “Gunsmoke”.
Maybe 600 feet long with rising terrain to the North.
Nice area to bring firearms for practice. Targets set up
    on North slope.

It’s now that time of year in the Desert Southwest when these guys become active again.
This was spotted by my son up in Cave Creek, AZ on his back patio.
Went to remove food from the grill and found it next to my granddaughter’s playpen.
It was given the right-of-way and soon after headed back to the untouched desert land behind the house.
These creatures and scorpions are two good reasons to keep outside door and garage seals in good condition.👍

What do you do when you finish flying off your Kitfox’s 40 hour test flight requirement? You get 20 of your friends and 16 airplanes and head out into the Arizona desert for a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, fresh monkey bread, rolls, bacon, muffins and coffee all around a nice campfire. Beautiful morning in the desert. Lots of flying and lots of aviation stories from some experienced aviators. We had several crop dusters, airshow performers who had flown with he greats like Bob Hoover. We had flight instructors, airline pilots and some rookies just getting their first tastes of aviation. Lots of aircraft builders sitting around that fire too.
By the way. My Kitfox is performing wonderfully. What a sweet flying ship. My wife said my GoPro mounts came in while I was flying off the last of my Phase one. Maybe some video one of these days. Keep building guys. 😀

Sunrise breakfast fly out. Tomorrow 40 mph wind gusts forecast but today was perfect.
Couple of the guys camped out last night on the strip to do some astronomy photography.
They had the fire up and running when the rest of the aircraft arrived at sunrise.
An RV-4 popped in to do a nice airshow. A low pass by a C-130 capped off the morning.
