Default LSA Pilot and the Instrument Rating

Been thinking about putting the appropriate instruments and radios in my KF and getting an instrument rating.

Can a PP, flying on a driver's license medical file and fly in instrument conditions or do I need to do the Basic Med thing???

    Thanks

I believe that you need 3 miles visibility if you are using your license without a medical which would make you a sport category pilot. To legally fly in IMC conditions you will need a 3rd class medical.

It is legal to file and fly IFR on Basic Med if you are appropriately rated.
