    Default 582 prop advice

I´m currently restoring a KF2 with Rotax 582 gray head with 3.00 gearbox and my next step is to replace the old GCS propeller. I have emailed a few dealers but the all recommend different size props and i would highly appreciate any advice or help you guys can give me.

Theese are the answer i got divided in prop brand

    Luga or NR prop:
    SL106-1750 (three-blade), 1750 is about 68"

    Ivopro:
They only recommend 2 blade 72" prop because of my 3.00 gearbox

    Bollypropellers:
    70" three blade

    Warpdrive:
    4-blade 64” Ultra-Prop II

The Luga and Warp Ultra is around 600 eur and the others are double the price.

Usually a shorter prop is associated with higher rpm and more pitch so more speed, less pull. IVO at one point in time did not recommend their props on a 3.0 gearbox because of the vibrations the 3.0 gearbox setup. That said I ran a 3 blade ultralight 68inch for 400hrs and never a problem. It was always smooth easy to adjust and fit the airplane well. I tried a warp drive and found the two blade very difficult to adjust and get smooth. I finally worked on it with a friend, got it smooth and it is now on his Kitfox. Still not as smooth as an IVO. The warp was a 2 blade 70inch.
I know nothing about Luga and Bolly so I can not offer an opinion.
I think for a Kitfox you want to stay with a 68 to 72 inch prop two or three blade. I am not sure why warp suggested a four blade 64inch Usually they are pretty good at getting the right prop and plane combination.
One other thing to remember is Warp and IVO are next door so to speak and getting parts is always easy.
    Good Luck

I think the Warp Drive: 4 blade 64" UltraProp is not a Warp Drive propeller, but an ultra prop made by competition aircraft. Some error in typing or wording I'm guessing. JImChuk

I have used a three blade ivo ultralight prop on mine for 23 years. I also had a 582 with 3;1 gearbox. A 2 blade works fine also I had a friend with one on an avid and it worked fine.

I have a 70" 3 blade IVO left hand medium inflight adjustable for sale. That is the right rotation for a 582 in tractor application, opposite of a 912. It has never been used. Has switches and wiring as well. Less then half price of new. JImChuk
