    Default NP propellor vs Wirlwind

    Hi All,

I am currently in the process of shopping for a new 3 blade ground adjustable prop. I was sold on the WW 75'' stol but have now been exposed to the 75'' NP 3 blade. The NP is a very nice looking swept blade design at a fraction of the cost of the WW. I am seeking any experience with either of these two props. I have a series 5 round cowl 100 hp 912. The reason for my choice of 3 blade is simple looks on the round cowl KF.

Where are you seeing info on the np prop? I’m looking at props too.

Are you referring to NR/Luga propellers or is there also a NP prop? I just received my 2 blade NR 81" scimitar prop that will eventually go on my Yamaha Apex, but I ordered an adapter to run it on my model 5 with the Lycoming O-290. I currently run a 72" Whirl Wind ground adjustable GA200L. I am very happy with the compromise performance of the GA200L, but would like more STOL performance and less cruise speed, so I'm going to try the NR this week. I'll report back. I did a static pull test with the GA200L 72" and it pulled 400 lbs, I then tried a GA200L-STOL 78" and it pulled 461 lbs, but I lost 5 mph in cruise. Interested to see what the NR prop pulls.

I did. So here are some interesting numbers. It weighs 8.576 Lbs less than the Whirl Wind GA 200 72." The static pull with the Whirl wind set at a static RPM of 2400 was 400 lbs, the NR prop was 485 lbs at the same RPM. I will fly it more on Tuesday and report back with better cruise and fuel burn numbers, but I saw maybe a 2-3 mph drop in cruise speed. Climbs crazy good and brakes real good at idle in a decent.

Cool thanks for the numbers. How are you doing static thrust test? What scale and where are you attaching at?
I plan to move my plane coming up soon to the airport and I am going to do some full power runs and want to do some static test.

It is a pull scale attached to the ground and then to the airplane with a tow strap. It would be great to get a comparison chart together with the different engines and prop combinations to see how much each pulls.

Any updates on the NR props comparison? Looking at the 107.

For the money the NR prop pulls the hardest. Trent went back to the NR because it pulls harder than the MT constant speed and weighs 35lbs less.
