Here's the way I did it -
Haven't used any solid rivets yet so I can't say. I think I used a CCC-32 or CCC-42 cherry rivet on my panel.
With the right counter-sync it's a snap. Used a little filler and sanded smooth.
I'm not sure if I'm wrapping my panel in vinyl or painting/engraving. The cherry rivets are so far off to the top
and side edges, I doubt it will interfere with either plan. When I add the 90 deg stiffeners to the middle of the panel
for my com and auto-pilot control heads, I'll use the same process.
I did add the nut-plates to make removal easier along the bottom edge.
My plan is to lay the panel face down and wire it up. Then install the panel. Someone else on the forum did it this way.
It was simple and effective. There should be plenty of slack to lay the panel back down to troubleshoot or to remove
and replace any avionics. I was going to do a hinge but thought it might be a source of vibration noise and honestly,
it was easier this way. The K.I.S.S principle. :D
Anyways, here's a few pic's on what I got so far. Good luck with your panel!!

Oh, thats one place to use rivets I suppose. I attached those brackets with Hy-Sol
I guess that is where I am confused. We have a bunch of solid rivets in our kit? Are most not using them and using countersunk pull rivets instead?
You can squeeze those. If you don't have a rivet squeezer you can buy one starting about $80. But some have used vice grips.
Yes, the kit comes with Waaaay to many solid rivets. You only use a few, maybe a few more if you use them on the flaperon trailing edges.
Okay back working on the STI's! Getting the avionics ordered. Quick questions on what everyone knows. Sorry I have just started reading the G3X manual but I am trying to get an order in quick to get stuff coming.
Here is what we are doing. Amazing the avionics sales guys don't know this stuff. But my question is if we do the gtx45r I need a GPS antenna (GA35) and a WAAS receiver (GPS20A) to feed the GTX45r correct?
Do I need a gps receiver/antenna for the G3X also?
G3X Touch 10" landscape
Guardian 9.7" Ipad air 2 mount
GTR20 Remote comm
Vertical power sport
GEA 24 EIS
GTX45R
GA35 WASSGPS antenna
GPS20A
(We are doing all remote mount to try and keep the CG back with the added weight of a turbo and intercooler and upgraded alternator)
Obviously there is a bunch more connectors and install kits and senors, I just outlined the major components.
Sounds very similar to what I just put together.
With the GTX-45R yes you need the both the GA-35 and the GTR-20 which can then also feed your elt if needed. I also have the GA-26C for the G3x
You're also going to want
GDU-46X install kit
GDU AUX Connector kit
LRU Kit (GSU25, GMU11, GTP59)
GEA24 connector kit
GSU-25AHRS connector kit
GMU-11Mag C connector kit
VPX sport connector kit
I'd also recommend
TCW 3ah backup and install kit
TCW 10a trim boost if you want to use the VPX trim features
There's a lot to learn. I'm just in the middle of it myself.
I am researching the same things... tracstarr's reply is dead on. It is recommended to get the GA26-C also like he said.
