Re: Where I Fly.
Reid, you are right about the drought and heat. I was in Mozambique a month ago and it was at least 38 C every day and very dry. I went there to help inspect a Cessna Caravan. That was my first time in Africa. Hope you get some rain soon. Merry Christmas.

Re: Where I Fly.
Thanks so Much Phil!
Water is critical now and I am juggling the 3 springs (12500 litres per day) on the farm to keep the animals watered.
There are farmers in my area that are worse off than I am.
But as an old uncle of mine said, "There has never been a drought in history that wasn't broken by a good rain!"
We keep trusting....
A really blessed Christmas to you and yours.

Re: Where I Fly.
Had a break in our Summer North West weather pattern, so headed to New Zealand's South Island West Coast.
The first image is the Stockton plateau and coal field. It is so windswept that hardly anything can grow there. approximately 2000 ft amsl

Re: Where I Fly.
We landed at Granity and walked across to the restaurant for lunch.
The tide was coming in a little quicker than anticipated. The owner of the Alpi 200 made an early departure off the remaining sand.
I departed a bit later

Re: Where I Fly.
Hi Dusty
You guys in NZ are spoiled rotten with all the neat places to fly. The other great thing is that you don`t have thousands of miles to travel in order to find these places!!
I am heading down again January 16th but will spend most of the time in the BOP/Waihi Beach area. Will visit Bob Byal who flys a Storm, you may have met him at SAA meets
Have a Merry Christmas and Super New Year.
Cheers
Don

Re: Where I Fly.
Sorry about that. The pix were right side up until I uploaded them to this site. Is there a way to rotate / edit on this site?

Re: Where I Fly.
I left clicked on the photo, right clicked on "save image as" , and downloaded it to a folder on my computer, rotated them, then downloaded here. Then deleted to protect the innocent. There's probably an easier way.
I think I recognize both spots.:)

Re: Where I Fly.
Thanks, TJ! You took the 'fool' out of the Floog. You probably have been to all of those places yourself. Mose's Coulee is spectacular!

Re: Where I Fly.
Regarding the landing on my bush strip that I mentioned I wanted to make in about June or so..... - The clattering sound is from the sideslip down the side of the mountain after flying over the crest on the approach.

In the first picture; on the right hand side is the ridge that I have to approach over and land up hill. In a Westerly direction.
The second picture is looking at the ridge from the opposite end of the runway - i.e. looking East.
