Hi Tom, I see you are ready to mount the glare shield and are wondering. IMHO don't do it like the manual says. Call John McBean and he will send you instructions on a MUCH better way to do it. I did it his way and love it. Much easier to get in and out for inspections.
Hi Tom, I am very sorry to hear about your cracked windshield. I was so pranoid about it during my installation that I wanted to make sure I never put any pressure on the bend point (where yours cracked) so I came up with this method: I put a strip of masking tape from the lower front corner to the upper rear corner on both sides when the winshield was in its completely relaxed position. Then as I handled it taking it on and off the plane during triming etc. I always kept the tape taut and never let it go slack. I even kept the tape on while it was on the aircraft for fitup. Take this for what its worth if it can be of any help. I feel your pain. Jim
Hi Tom, I follow your build website and noticed you mounted the two EGT probes way down near the muffler. Rotax says to mount them at a specific dimension (I believe about 4") from the exhaust port flange. The readings you get from your existing positions will be substantially cooler than the acceptable range given in the Rotax manuals. You may want to rethink this. Jim Ott
Hi Tom, I got my plane already to paint and am trying to figure out how much paint to order with my HVLP sprayer. I have the type of sprayer that you sprayed with. I was wondering if you had a summary of the quantity of paint that you used to paint your plane. I have the Polly Brush & Spray already. Did you use Polytone or Aerothane? I'd appreciate any information. Thanks Scott Noble Scott.Noble1@Msn.com
