well I'm going to do it. The IFR ticket that is. So to do that I have to change my panel on the rv. How does a Garmin 430w with the GMA347 audio panel. I already have the D180. so if I couple the 430 into the d180 I'll have an hsi indicator for the 430. So I guess it's going to be a chop and install for me soon. Good thing I put in supports down the middle for such a thing. I'm currently doing the ground school for the IFR and soon when the plane is ready, flight training in the RV for the IFR. I also plan on a trutrak digitrakII. I already have the brakets installed for the servo's, I took out the Dynon auto pilot and gave it back, what a piece of XXXX. OH and the 696 I love that machine, should keep things in line while flying IFR. I guess the things that I will have left over to sell will be my old ps3000 and the Xcom radio.
Sounds like a fun project, and I have to agree on the 696, been using it in some rental planes and it sure makes things easy. Bummer to hear the Dynon AP system didn't work out, I like the rest of their stuff. I am thinking of designing an altitude hold using the electric trim in the 7, any thoughts? IFR training seems like a good idea just to make one a better pilot, have fun. (still just VFR for now)
Finn ,..an altitude hold on the horizontal stab trim wouldn't be hard to do,..there are 2 ways to do it that I can think of off the top of my head,..if you use a servo,..or encorperate the trim motor,..which would be better for less weight ,..but might not be good as far as trim motor temps go,..I haven't seen the trim motor used on the 7's,..using it as an altitude hold might not be a good idea after all..what if it failed,.. a servo that is connected in line with the trim motor might be the best option,..even if the servo failed you'd still be able to adjust the horizontal stab AOA with the trim motor,..or visa versa,.. just a thought Chase
the auto pilot in my kitfox incorporates the use of my left hand.
now I have a left hand ,..works well ,..but the right hand ,.now that's half plastic and sometimes it's got a mind of it's own and just doesn't work too well
Steve,.what com do you have that your going to be selling?
the xcom. n n nnnnnn
xcom 760.. whatcha gonna be asking for it?
It will be some time before I make a total decision. Not sure on the price.
OK, seems like a good unit from what I've read on it
