what is the difference between a kf1 wing and a kf2 wing. How hard is it to repair a kf1 wing that has had all the aileron ribs broken off.

Early Kitfox 1 had round aluminum tubes for spars. Kitfox 2 wings had a tube that had a center rib running the full length of the tube for spars. It was extruded like that. Some of the later Kitfox 1s also had this same type of spar as the Kitfox 2. That allowed the increase of gross weight to 950 on the Kitfox 1 if it had the Kitfox 2 type spars. Otherwise it is 850 lbs. I've built rib tails for Avids that needed the rib tails repaired, it's not real hard. Here is a picture of the rib tail repair part. Kitfox ribs are not exactly the same as Avids, but very similar. JImChuk

So the Kitfox 2's wings design is definitely superior, right?

If the Kitfox 1 wing has the extruded spars, it's the same as the Kitfox 2 wing. JImChuk
