Finally worked past my problem.......To cheap to pay for a good oil filter can cutter, won't use a crappy one; and tired of pestering my friends to borrow a good one.

Maybe building is what we do anyway, so had to try making one. Picked up the two small ball bearings at a local surplus shop for a couple bucks, the cutter wheel from Menard's aircraft plumbing supply for a couple more bucks. All else is scrounged from around my shop so less than $10 for parts I had to buy. Designed it to accommodate both large and small filters and it has worked perfectly.

Nice job, Dave! I use a giant tubing cutter that I got when I was still officially a working man. It probably cost at least 10 times what yours did, and it also probably doesn't work as well.

Dave,
I like the adaptation of the easily obtained parts. Good thinking.
