I am gonna add the razor back to my KF5 and need some pics and dimensions.

I am going to weld it on since I am already doing other welding anyway.

Can someone get a pic and the dimensions of the antenna mount triangle where the end of the turtle deck meets. Also a pic of the underside of the triangle where the tube is welded. I need to see where and how the razorback tube ends under the antenna mount.

Also a measurement of the height of the support upright in the middle.

Thanks for the help.

Hey Jerry. I don’t have what you need but I’m going to convert my Model 6 fuselage to a 7. The one thing is wasn’t planning to do is the razor back but maybe I will. I’ll follow your progress

It looks easier to weld the razor back in as opposed to going through the aggravation of using aluminum, wood and hysol. Plus I like how it gives a place to put the antenna. The kf 5 came with a cheesy bolt on antenna mount.

I am sure you've seen the post about the tail spring pad mount modification. I think that is a definite mod you want to do if your 6 doesn't have it. I already cut the pieces and welding it up this weekend.

I did my razorback with wood but tbo I laid it out so it looked in balance foremost.
It was relatively easy to make.
Most of my antenna's are all internal as of this writing. Not sure if that will change do to practicality
Sorry cannot help more with the welding stuff.

Got the Razorback welded on. Here some pics in case anyone else is thinking about doing this. The position of the antenna mount triangle is about 6" aft compared to the newer fuselages, but should still work out. I also added seat pan tabs and cargo floor attachment tabs. I am contemplating some brackets for the ELT. Tried to rotate the pics but no luck.

Are you sure it’s 6” aft? It looks like it’s in the same spot as my 7. The 7 has a longer turtle deck do you don’t have that aluminum angle by itself, it goes to the steel tube.

Oh, I didn't realize the 7's turtle deck was longer. So it may actually be in the same place as the 7. The aluminum angle is trimmed and set in place. Just not riveted in yet. I am not crazy about running the fabric to the aluminum angle. When shrinking, that fabric can really pull and distort the angle. with this new info, Might be worth looking at retrofitting and making the turtle deck longer. I was thinking I might go with a lexan one anyway.
