I have some difficulty to seen how the front jury strut bracket and his bolt can get out off fabric?..

Jerrytex
10-01-2012, 05:56 AM
Check out this link about the jury strut. I ended up cutting the jury strut a little and extended the bracket that attaches to the spar. This way the bolt was below the fabric. Worked out with no problems.

Yes Jerry ,i read the disscusion about your problem..do you have a pic of what it's look,i cant figure how i can put the two bracket vertical??? The first one is strait vertical on rear spar, but the second one arrived were it arrived?? I cant bend the jury strut %€£¥%#%*?,"....

Sorry, I don't have a pic. The bracket was already mounted on mine. I used a piece of stainless steel plate and added it to the bracket down through the fabric. Maybe you could fabricate new longer brackets?

Jfquebec
10-02-2012, 12:00 PM
Jerry i check if it's fit with more longer bracket when i put the wing back to the aircraft...

Now i fit the false ribs under the wing were the lift strut bracket are and he have a other problem ,,,,the hole will be in fabric to, maybe it is better to dont put any false ribs in this place.???
there a pic..

The bolt hole where the lift strut attaches on mine is right at the level of the fabric similar to yours. The fabric is pushed up a little around the nut. Maybe someone else can chime in with more info or possibly post a pic.

Stole this picture from Danny Powell's build photos - http://www.teamkitfox.com/Forums/album.php?albumid=74&pictureid=1368

I think these replace the older style strips you may have already installed. I believe you sandwich the rib between two of the brackets. More strength with the rivets through the rib. However, I am not sure if you still need the flat strips on the bottom for the rivets on the bottom.

JFQuebec,

It is best two snap your lines, wet the area with polybrush then apply your tape in the wet polybrush. Use your snapped lines to keep your tape straight and carefully work it down the line. IMO you need the polybrush first this aids in bonding the tape to the fabric, may also alleviate dry spots in your finish. Snapping two lines at the width of the tape will help keep the tape straight and will also help it from being stretched wider during application. Second note is you do not need a heavy coat, soak the weave, the tape should easily stick to the tape and partially wet thorough and be able to slide around a bit. On a long section you don't have to apply the polybrush down the hole run. It will start to tack which will make it more difficult, work 3-5' at a time or what ever you are comfortable with. Try not to leave ridges outside the snapped lines, dry brush this area for a smoother over all finish. And don't worry you more layers to apply it will all start to level out.

Looking good.

Just be aware JF that they won’t allow you to put the C and the F together and the reg has to be in a row.

When I rebuilt my bicycle, It got aluminum paint with invasion stripes, and blue handlebar tape, inspired by Crazy Horse. The P-51 is surely one of the most beautiful airplanes ever built.

The 2 letters together represented the unit the plane was assigned to and the single letter represented the pilot the aircraft was assigned to.

Hi team,im now working on cowling,i have a lots of fun because i push the windshield more foward for the look
and That give me more work after..That is why my cowling going down like That 😩
But at the end it’s looking good to me 🤨(give me your opinion on That)
so i install cleco on everything and i dont like the space between the cleco..so i manage to install piano hinge..
much better now..but beside the door like you can see i need to do something???
I think to make like Lowell and put some fiberglass on doorpost tube..
i order the spinner and the internal propeller control from murle william’s..
i have to made the oppening for those blades, pretty easy but now i have to made connections for That .

A other problem it was the oil tank 😡my cowling is more lower
so i cut the tank and give That to my nephew and i try to weld it with tig,but he made a mess
so i re cut the tank and i give That in professional hand and they made a good job..but now my tank are really small 😬tell me if you know what is the minimum i can have in this oil tank???

efwd
03-17-2019, 07:41 AM
I see you have fasteners on the lower cowl. If I were to address the gap at the door post I would simply throw one more fastener in the upper cowl. Of course you may have to weld in a tab to accommodate the female half of the fastener.

hi guy's ...i hope everybody going well, for me and my familly we are at home since 3 week's......... or more, i dont know ,i lost the time during that;)
whatever, now i have more time to work on kitfox:cool:
here is the center consol, in model 2 it is really tite to pass all stuff like hose and wire ....
so i start by making a paper on at first after that i made one in foam with electric tape all around .
then i spray some hairspray to my wife and stick some fiberglass on that,,,,,,,the result was so bad:(so made a lot of sanding,putey......sanding....resin.....sanding... cuting...and you know what i talking about:rolleyes:
i spray primer and same paint iv'e put on control panel(EZ-LINER)
on each side of the consol i instal two aluminum angle on the floor and two aluminum sheet cover with vinyl simili wood...
i need to find something to fill the gap around the flap handle, like rubber...

like you can see , it is the only place i can fit it ...above the pilot feet...
so their two fan on heater...my plan was to invert the electric wire on one fan to shot the air flow under windshield...but it is not working...so i remove the for rivets on one fan and i turn the fan on other side..

Jfquebec

after that i made an duc from the fan to the windshield with fiberglass...
i use an metal funel like mold..
i use an aluminum pipe from amazon ....
