Hello!

I am constructing a Kitfox STI model (based on the one flown by Trent Palmer) for X-Plane 11 and could use some pictures or technical data. Due to the experimental nature of the aircraft, there is not a lot of public technical details. The goal is to construct a study-level model where actual Kitfox pilots can practice without having to fly their aircraft or people who want to buy a Kitfox can try it out. Pictures showing the aircraft level and showing the plane from a side view, front view, and a top view would be greatly appreciated! Here is the link to the development page of the plane https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/172327-kitfox-sti-blametrentpalmer/&tab=comments#comment-1600077

Thank you for any help you can give!

Ah yes! Just what I have been waiting for! Mine is still being built so I can’t offer much real numbers. Willing to send any pictures that could help.

something as flattering as this? Just contact Trent. I have three view photos of my S7 SS sitting here in front of me. Standard wing. If you feel the STI wing is something you must have in the photo, Im afraid its the Factory or Trent that you need to get in touch with at this point in time. just read your other thread. You can find quite a bit of information you may need in the build manual. The entire manual for the firewall back is found on the Kitfox web site. Specifically, the rigging of the Flapperons and there deflection angles are all there.

Yes! Any pictures would be great! I will contact Trent on this forum today.

Thanks,

Those are perfect! Thank you everyone for the help much appreciated! I'll try to keep this updated with the development of the xplane model.

Have a great day!

By the way, does anyone know what airfoil the STI wing uses, if I can get that the plane would fly a lot closer to the real thing. As for contacting kitfox I did do that a week ago but have got gotten a response.

Thanks again

It’s a proprietary airfoil

Well that makes things a bit harder. Does anyone have a picture of the STI wing rib? I could use a picture to make a close approximation of the airfoil instead.

I know a couple of guys with NASA. I didn’t know NASA test pilots were so secretive about who and where they were... are you like a spy or something?

I agree, John. Almost looks like someone fishing for drawings of the STi rib to use without paying for it.

Nope not even affiliated with NASA. I have just been a fan of planes and NASA. A bit young to be doing that.

Nope honestly just want them for the XPlane model. I don't even have a kitfox to use. I'm sorry if I created any subitiones about me. I am just a big fan of the kitfox sti and due to my age can not afford one or even fly one so I want the XPlane model to fly around and allow others to do the same :)

If anyone has any more suspicions about me please just PM me and I will do my best to explain myself.

To help curb the suspicions, why not introduce yourself a bit and give some (non-personal) information about who and what you are all about.

That sounds like a terrific idea!

I am an almost high school student with a big passion for space and aviation. I live near 2 military air bases and a NASA center so it is a part of my everyday life. I first came across Trent Palmer about a year ago and have been watching his videos ever since. What really started my love for Kitfoxes was Trent's Cub Killer project. I just really like the aesthetic of it and ever since then a Kitfox and a Pilot License has been a major goal I have been working towards. When I grow up I want to become either an astronaut, test pilot, or aerospace engineer. I hope that latter on all of these dreams come true and the projects that I am working on such as this one, come out well.

Hope that explains me a bit more about me and explains why I am a bit protective of my identity (age range) :)

Geeze, now Im glad my N-number isn't in those pics. ;)

Dont worry, the pictures are only being used to craft the flight model and not as a livery for the plane. Either way, I did not even notice the lack of N numbers due to your awesome paint scheme!

Thanks, notice the wink and smile attached. Good luck on your project. I may have to buy Xplane again.

Thanks for showing enthusiasm in this project, it gives me one more reason to get this project done as acuratly as possible!

Thanks for the pictures! these will help a ton!

As of now I am going to buy the POH for the Kitfox Series 7 STI and *hopefully* find some numbers that are critical to the accuracy of the plane.

Im afraid you won't find a POH for that. I thought I could buy a POH for one of the factory built LSAs but was told each POH is custom to the airframe they have sold so I could not buy one. I thought it would be as easily acquired as a Cessna 152 POH. NOT. What do I know?
What may be of use is the Kitfox Pilots Guide that the factory sells. It covers pretty much all the aircraft to include the Kitfox Lite. Great book for any Kitfox owner.

Yes I was mistaken. I am getting the pilots guide sorry for the confusion!

Hey!

I have finally picked together a representation of the STI airfoil to use for the X-Plane Model. If anyone wants to check it to verify that it is accurate please pm me
