Howdy all;
I installed 2" pink foam in the bottom of the kitfox model 4 rear baggage...bag.
It was too floppy without a bottom, and heavy stuff could hang down and touch the controls, so the foam bottom really stiffened things up...but, it takes up a lot of room i the bottom now.
If you have a suggestion for a thinner material, that won't add much weight or tear through the bottom, please let me know. If it's cheap, that would help me too.
Thanks
Roger

You could use some kind of honeycomb material like the factory uses, or perhaps lay-up a carbon fiber panel. I'm not sure what the price would be for either of these options.

I used 2 layers of the plastic cardboard sign material with 2 sided tape between. Line the corrugations 90 degrees to each other. Surprisingly strong and super
Light. If I carry heavier items, I use duffel bags and clip the handles off to the upper cross members for extra support.

Before I sold my model IV:(

I put a piece of 3/16 plywood in the bottom.

Adel clamps fastened inside (for cargo tiedowns) and outside with one bolt in each corner. https://i.imgur.com/kFIc2Zk.jpg

Each corner fastened to fuselage tubing with adel clamps and parachute cord to prevent the sack from swinging and possibly fouling the controls.

Burned holes in the sack with a needle nose soldering iron to attach to fuselage tubing around the top. Added a coudera (Yellow) sack inside to hold aircraft documents.

Thanks for posting those pics Tom! I've been trying to find pics of the cargo bag for a model 4.

Thanks to all, great pics and ideas here.
I went with the corrugated plastic panels from home depot, laminated with aero epoxi. Cheap solution, light weight and in stock locally
Thanks again !!

Sorry to bring such an old discussion back to life…

I was wondering if the Model 4 cargo bag fits the 1050 version as well as the 1200 lb version? I was told by someone it won’t fit my 1050 lb model.

I made minę from .016 aluminum, solid on the bottom but latticed as you can see on the sides. I welded tabs to the inside top of the fuselage and the baggage area hangs from them.
