Koger Shades GROUP ORDER

I thought it appropriate to have a separate thread to facilitate a group order for Koger shades.

For anyone interested, we can get 20% off on custom rectangular shades from Koger. https://kogersunshades.com/

The normal cost is $250, and we can get them for $200 if we order at least 3. Judging by the other thread, that should be easy. The only slightly awkward thing is that we'll need to do it as a single order, so I'll need to collect money in advance and then place the order with Koger.

So, anyone who is interested will need to send me$212 ($200 + $12 shipping). I can take it via PayPal (preferred), or you can mail me a check. If you send via PayPal, please do not indicate that it is for a purchase. You are not purchasing from me, and if you do it as a purchase, I'll pay fees to receive the money.

If you're interested, reply to this thread and send payment along with a shipping address. If you prefer PayPal, send money to aviator79(at)gmail(dot)com. If you want to send me a check, email me or PM me for a physical address. I'll look to place the order on Monday, October 15th.

The shade is 33" wide and 25" long. Measure your model 4 and see if this will work.

As for the IV, if you need a different size, I'm pretty sure we can order what you need if you measure. As a disclaimer: I'm just facilitating the group buy, I don't personally guarantee the fit in anyone's airplane.

I made a modification to mine by simply calling Jeff at Koger. He accommodated me without question. :) I simply advised him that I was one of the group purchasers with Brian. He took notes and is just waiting for Brian to place the order.

Brian, yes I just received mine. It looks like a quality product and the installation looks very easy, probably about 20 minutes. Will get it installed this weekend; will post photos.

I measured my Model IV today and the 33" would be too wide. Mine measures about 31 1/2". So, Brian, if you could order me one about 30 1/2" wide, please do so. However, I don't know how to PM or send PayPal. If you could PM me with your address I'll send you a check tomorrow. Thanks!!

I installed my Kroger shade today. Went very quick and easy. Made a flight with it and am very pleased; it fits up tight against the skylight, adjusts back and forth very smoothly, and looks great. If I were to tweak its size any, I would add 1" to the present 33", and add 1" to the present 25" length. No big deal but the added inch would be perfect in my view for an SS7 Kitfox. It does not cover up the fuel sight gauges; they are still very visible.

The photos show the complete assembly before installation (red rectangles are the double stick tape), the center channel, sliders close-up, center channel installed, final assembly with the shade fully retracted, 1/2 retracted, and full on.

Yes, you bend the center channel to exactly follow the contour of the skylight, then stick it on.

So... The center skylight support is not there on the SS7? I have a ply support in the middle. I suppose I could take it out.

How does everyone feel about adding the inch in each direction, per Jim's recommendation? I think I'll get mine that way. Shall I do all of them that way? (Except for Eddie and sourdostan, who have different dimensions already.)

If possible, I’ll take the extra 1 inch in the fore & aft dimension only. From the posted pics by Jim, it looks like current width fits nicely between the overhead braces when retracted. It appears that an extra inch in width might not fit well when retracted.

I’m guessing the material is flexible enough to ride over the top of bars.

Hi All,

I'm still waiting on two checks. I'm going to wait for those to arrive prior to placing the order. Hopefully it will be today or tomorrow. I will continue to take PayPal orders until I actually place the order with Koger.

As of right now, we have a total of 16 orders, so please keep in mind that it may take Koger some time to get these all made and shipped out. I will send individual tracking information if Jeff at Koger gives it to me.

If you have requested something different, I've noted it in parentheses by your name below. Update:
I just talked to Jeff about adding the 1". He said it's technically possible, but won't look good. The folds in the shade are 5", and he said that we'd be happier sticking to 25, otherwise they don't fold quite right and are visually unappealing. I'm inclined to take his advice. So, I apologize, but I'm going to change the default back to 25" x 33".

Also, I'll be able to order shades at a discount in the future as well, so if anyone misses this initial buy, it's not too late. The price may not be the same, but if you've come across this thread after the group order is complete, and want to buy Koger shades, send me a PM.

Lastly, I do also have an order for Kieth Swyer.
