Looking at a couple foxes that are not Rotax. Wondering how hard is it to change engines to a Rotax? From a lycoming or continental? Thanks.

I would say it's doable, but definitely a big job. Everything firewall forward will need to be changed including the engine mount, cowling, prop, electrical. Most likely you will need to change the wing sweep too for CG reasons.

What would be the reason for removing a Lycoming or Continental?

If it's a Model 4, easy if you purchase the 912ul firewall forward package that is currently listed in the classifieds of this site. But that isn't always available.

Not a sales pitch. Just answering the question.

How would one change the sweep of the wing that is already drilled, would you just change the four plates in the root of the spar? Curious.

Just a guess, but maybe by mounting the battery behind the seat as far as you could, you wouldn't need to change the sweep. How much does the sweep really move the CG forward? 1"? 2"? I don't imagine it's a whole lot. JImChuk

I have an o-200 in mine with NO wing sweep. The battery is behind the seat and the balance is perfect.

I misspoke in my previous message, I said "moves the CG forward" Should have said "moves the CG rearward, or datum forward" JImChuk
