How much less mph would one get out of the classic versus the V gear? My guess this is 1mph maybe? of course its more theoretical that the bigger structure would increase drag but wondering if there is an actual number behind it in terms of mph..

I have a friend went from a "spring" cabine gear to Grove and he gained more like 5 mph on his 80 hp Avid-Kitfox hybrid. (Avid fuselage, Kitfox wing)

I assume Grove is the Classic setup?

What are the pros and cons of the two gear types?

If I understand your question correctly, no. Grove is the “new” gear... solid aluminum.

any idea on the mph drag induced by the classic landing gear? The ones you'd see on a radial engine fox..

I like the classic look with the round cowling, just curious what the drag difference is versus the other landing gear that is in theory more aerodynamic

Av8r3400 stated above that his friend gained 5mph by putting the grove gear on vs. the classic bush gear.

Thanks Larry, those pics are very helpful. Wasn't aware of the Classic designation. Seen em, didn't know what they were called.
