I finally flew my plane for the first time last week. Wow! is about the best description I can come up with. It flies like a dream.

Thanks to all of the folks here who provided wisdom and motivation over the years. It would have been a much less enjoyable process without you.

Thanks of course to all of the people at Kitfox Aircraft for making such a terrific plane and for answering all of my questions along the way.

2.2 hours down and 37.8 to go for Phase 1...

Nice Doug! Congratulations! Although my build feels like the longest one on this site, I’m getting close. Posts like this just motivate me more!

Congratulations Doug! It looks fantastic - I know everyone here would love to hear about your first flight too!!

Nearly there Josh!!! I think most of us here will be totally envious that you will have your own homebuilt Kitfox by the age of 21....! :)

cheers

Looks very nice, love the colors. Seeing your plane will give us who are still building motivation to keep enjoying the journey.
Any photos of your panel?

Thanks a bunch for all of the kind words fellas.

I bought this kit off of the Classifieds section here in 2011, then took way too much time trying to get it finished.

I also stopped flying during the entire build process, so had to get back into the saddle starting back in June. Fortunately, I met a terrific local EAA member who has a Kitfox V, and he generously let me fly his plane for several hours in preparation for my first flight. That was a huge help in putting my mind at ease for the first flight; ok, not "at ease," but close enough.

I have a lot to learn about the plane, the 912ULS and the electric IVOProp, so I will make good use of the forty hours.

My panel is pretty simple, and I think I went over-kill on the tablet (gps) size, but everything seems to function OK so far.

Great to see another Kitfox finished and in the air. Nice simple panel Doug. Congratulations and hope the flight testing goes well for you.

And Josh, as Ross said, 21 and and almost finished your build. Really happy for you. Oh that I had such thoughts when I was your age ...... but never too late.:D

Thanks guys!

Desertfox4, I had to dig deep on that slip indicator question, but I found it:
