Well, American Kitfoxers!
I have booked and paid to stay in the South African Campsite on Neil Bowden's Oshkosh Air Adventure!
My brother is coming with me. We're about 30 in all from my area.
A few of us are Kitfox nuts.

See you in Osh!!

Awesome! Looking forward to meeting you!

We will be doing our usual Kitfox gathering at my campsite, I think it will be Thursday (July 26) next year. It should be a good time.

We are hoping to convince a few more Kitfoxers to park and fly down at the ultralight field to demonstrate the capabilities of these awesome little planes.

Nice Reid! I have two weeks off during Osh next year as well. My two boys and I plan on making it as well.

It's never too early to start planning!

Thursday is set for the Party, down at my campsite. Friday is just too busy. We should be in the same place (or very close) as last year.

The Mangy should be down on the Ultralight farm with the rest of the cowboys.

Only 20 short weeks away!

The Mangy will be parked on the Ultralight field, my cell number is allways on the prop tag. Feel free to call.

Does the ultralight strip ever get too full of planes, to where they would be turned away and have to land on the big runway?

Av8r3400
03-07-2018, 07:50 AM
Parking can be a challenge sometimes, but the stated rule is: No one who flies into the Ultralight Field will be turned away. We will find a place to park you.

We now have a little tug to help move LSA airplanes around because powered taxiing is not allowed.

dholly
03-11-2018, 08:12 AM
At all? Or just crossing roads and walkways? It was craazy watching all the Valdez STOL guys shutting down, jumping out, pushing a few feet over the service road then jumping back in, firing up and taxing to their tie down 30' away over past couple of years. Could hear the grumbling over the engine noise from quite a distance, lol.

Av8r3400
03-11-2018, 10:26 AM
At all. That's the way it has always been.

There is so much flying activity and so much pedestrian activity in the area, powered taxiing has never been allowed. Since planes are getting heavier (LSA more than 103 Ultralights) the addition of the tug last year was greatly welcomed for moving panes up and down the hill by the barn.

Well, I was really hoping to have the plane done in time but I just don't think it is going to happen in time with out too much rushing and I definitely don't want to be rushing.

I've conceded that I will be airlining to KORD and renting a car and driving up to camp at KOSH. I wouldn't mind camping around some people I somewhat know so let me know if anyone minds if I throw a tent on their lot!

Av8r3400

If you're "tenting" we've got plenty of room and it's cheap. Just need to pay to park the rental car for the time you're there...

Visa is granted, flights are booked, luggage is halved and cash is doubled:)
Some 120 South Africans are on our way!!!
I am definitely in a group of about 7 Kitfox enthusiasts who will be spending our time picking brains and talking short airfield stuff.
Hope to be a lurker at the Kitfox stand, Marvel Schebler, IVO, Warp drive and Desser Tyres, amongst others.

Would like to chat to Trent Palmer about that roll in his intro, too:D...

Wannafly (Mic), are you going to be their with Nancy?

Let's get a group of Kitfoxers doing the Runway 5km fun run/walk??

See you all soon!

Once you fly into Oshkosh are you "stuck" there until you depart? If you wanted to go up to fly for an hour or so is that an option?

I've never been to AirVenture before, and I know there are lots of airshows and arrivals and departures, so I was just wondering how things work.

I really want to be able to call myself a Kitfox owner, but until I get to sit in one and fly in one I don't think it's a good idea to throw down the cash. For me it's a 14 hour drive, but if I could get even a short test flight out of it I'm probably going to make the trip there.

PapuaPilot

Plaid Avenger,

Typically planes arrive and depart from OSH. It isn't easy to go out and do a demo flight. Most of the display planes are "land locked" for the week, unless they are part of the airshow. The exception would be if there is somebody with a Kitfox parked at the ultralight field that was willing to give you a ride (early morning or late in the evening).

If you can attend then you can spend all the time you need at the Kitfox display; sitting in the planes, asking all the questions you have, etc. There will be lots of Kitfox owners there too; make sure you talk with some of us too, and we will have you sold on the Kitfox in no time.

PlaidAvenger
06-29-2018, 12:56 PM
PaupaPilot,

Thank you for the reply! That's what I thought, I figured it would be a big pain in the backside to dig a plane out once it was parked.

I'd still like to make the trek to AirVenture, so I can see, touch, and sit in a Kitfox.

My mind is already pretty much sold on a Kitfox, I just have to make sure my body will be on board too (I'm 6'4 and a bit wider than I'd prefer, so I want to make sure I'd be plenty comfortable).

I also love the idea of being able to chat in person with some of you experienced Kitfox folks. I'm sure there's lots of things a lot of you would know from your experience that I wouldn't know to even ask about.

Thanks again!

I'd like to start to get a general head count for this year's BBQ Party. Please sound off if you are planning to attend.

This year's get together will be on THURSDAY, July 26 starting about 4 pm, due to scheduling issues on Friday. The place will be at my campsite again, see the earlier post for the google map pic of the location.

I should be there. What I'd really like to do is fly over from Homebuilt Camping, but that might be just too much hassle. (Like to do the STOL demo at the ultralight field.)

Av8r3400
07-01-2018, 06:39 AM
Participating in the STOL demo is by invitation, not open to everyone.

There's nothing to stop you from flying into and parking in the UL area. Underwing camping is just fine There, too.

Hi All,

Well I haven't really been following this post as I figured I was not returning to OSH until 2019...

BUT, My Dad has twisted my arm this year is is keen to head back to OSH one last time (I hope it's not his last)

Anywhoo..... Dad and I will be heading over from Australia again, but unfortunately we couldn't get last minute accommodation in UWO (Oshkosh) so had to book in for Ripon.

Nevertheless... see you all at Larry's Internationally famous BBQ

Good for you Jono! Say hi to Dad for me and hope to see you both over at Mt Beauty again soon!

Dave - Jono supported me all through my build - a young gun from Melb/Benalla. Hope you meet up. He's been a little shy of late but probably distracted by motorless aircraft and the fairer sex ... Jono, Dave is building out at Moama but lives in Melb during the week. He will be flying soon.

Jono and Ben are the younger Kitfoxers from OZ.... Wish I was over there too..

Hope to catch up soon Jono!

cheers
