Oh my don't talk to me about paint Rub rub rub for ever! Pleased to say I painted it myself it's a clear over base 2 k system of my own. Same as I used on my models.
Basically 2 k auto paint with a plasticizer additive

Congrats Paul. I know it's been a long road to this day but from the looks of the finished product it was so well worth the effort, time and money.
One of a kind bird.
Spectacular aircraft worthy of that beautiful radial engine.

That Kitfox is absolutely stunning!

Good luck ever getting away from the fuel pumps at a new airport in under an hour. Admirers are going to stream out of the FBO offices when you pull up!

Rolled the first photo into view and... OMG! is all I could say. Unbelievable beauty. That is something that could inspire me to a second build. I am enjoying my build now but I want to fly soon so a project like that is something I could consider as a slow build while flying the one I have. Im jealous.

Paul, fantastic airplane, I especially like how well you faired your coupe - cowl, gear, struts etc. Hard to take my eyes off it ! Bruce N199CL

Paul, I agree your plane is absolutely beautiful, but I have to know, what does the number 28 signify, the years of painting, sanding and polishing that went into getting it to look that outstanding? WOW. what a show stopper:eek:. Congratulations on a superb job.
Steve
ps
I nominate for Kitfox of the month

Thanks all for the kind words. The project sat for a bit while we (Rotec) relocated shop. But in the last year I pushed hard to get her all done.

Rudder? Yes both the rudder and the elevator are a new shape with balanced tips, servos. Chopped the original tubes and then re bowed the original structure added a bunch of ribs.

28? This signifies the R2800 radial out front. But truth told it was just an excuse to put a cool racing number on the sides!

I know very little about what the radial Rotec does for performance, but based on all the custom fairings I see along with exquisite attention to fit and finish, you just may have a real Kitfox racer. I can hardly wait to hear flying test results.

So how did you do the panel? Let me guess, wood in the shape of a Monocoupe panel ;)

The panel looks great I'll get some pics, I painted the seats in black and silver also and set these off with red sabelt racing harnesses. Looks cool as.

The panel face and top cover look metal like same look as the prop, all steam gauges with no electronics. Old school and minimalist.

Power? The geared 2.8 liter radial has plenty. The prop is 76"D with 55"P. It will turn at 2,400 rpm! It will haul no doubt about it.

But alas this is a mk3 high drag wing so I'm not expecting it to go super fast. But should climb like a SOB. This is more about art than anything else 😉

Oh FWIW all Rotec radials now come with a 10 year parts and manufacturing warranty. It's real.

I"m really interested in the interior myself. My Model IV is an 80 HP and I love the plane but never really liked the padding in the interior. Always looking for options.

WOW!!!

What an amazing looking plane. I too am patiently waiting for performance numbers. Always loved the look of the radial and the old classic planes.

Thanks Desert Fox. I"ll try and hold on a while, but I don't have the stamina that I had when I was younger.
