Hey guys. Im finishing up a kitfox 4 project i purchased a couple of months ago, and it came with tires that seem like were atv tires with the knobbys shaved off. Is this commonly used for flying planes or are they just used for wheeling the project around? Ive seem my same "atv" tires in other pics. Thanks Paul

Many of the early kitfox kits came with those shaved down ATV tires. Yes they were and are used for flying.

They work fine but there is not much rubber left. I got a flat at the Kitfox flyin in Caldwell due to a puncture weed they call goatheads. I switched to an ATV tire that was not ground off and later went to nanco smooth ATV tires.

My model 2 had ATV tires that still had the knobs on them.
Didn't seem to affect the plane much, not at the speed the model 2 cruises.
Note: I ran them with low pressure, it helped keep the plane more controllable on the ground.
Roger.

Normal ATV tires are fine and I ran them for awhile. I only changed because I changed to different wheels when I built my bush gear. The nancos were all the Rage? These are the 8" wheels we are discussing!
