My 7 kit that I just bought has a fiberglass (or whatever kind of material it is) header tank. I've been advised it's best to change it out to an aluminum one. Is this a good idea?
Thanks
Brian

Yes, change it out to the aluminum one. The plastic one will leak, it's not worth even trying to use it.

If you want more info and pictures just search the topic in the forum.

I threw mine in the trash.

In my opinion its not just a good idea, its mandatory. A very high percentage of folks with the plastic tank have had leakage problems at the fittings. Get the aluminum tank and change it out while it is easy to do.

I concur throw that Piece of Trash into the Garbage. Your life is worth the cost of the Aluminum Header tank!

They are plastic and they were/are prone to damage pretty easily while installing the fuel line fittings. As you can tell by the responses, many have had leakage problems and prefer replacing with the aluminum header. Fuel in the cockpit diminishes the fun of any flight.
A small side benefit is you get a slightly larger volume of fuel in the aluminum tank. Very durable and well worth the price for the piece of mind.

Thanks, I'll order an aluminum tank for sure. I think I posted this in the wrong section too, sorry about that, I do appreciate the feedback.
Thanks
