Wondering if anyone out there is planning on flying their kitfoxes to observe the total eclipse this August 21st? Looking at the path of the total eclipse from Oregon to South Carolina, it cuts across many regions where our list members are located near. For our part, considering taking the Kitfox to Nebraska, find an airport near the path to underwing camp and take it from there. Don't know much about how underwing camping friendly Nebraska airports are????

Here is a link to NASA's map, which a person can zoom in on regionally:

An airplane is probably a good way to avoid the mess that roads in the area of totality are sure to be. If only I had one in time for this event - I'm stuck on the ground until I save up enough.

I think they figured that the population in that path is going to increase by 12x and possibly overwhelm some services. Some of the predictions are almost unbelievable. A friend said lodging has filled up already in the area he checked, folks are coming from out of country to see it too. I'm in southern Indiana and we're just going to drive to southern IL for the day if the weather is going to be ok.

You'll be much more mobile for good viewing!

A friend of mine here in Ellensburg plans to fly down to Central Oregon to see the eclipse. He started looking for a place to land and stay a few weeks ago.

The only place he found a place with vacancy to stay is camping in John Day for $100 per night.
