Steve, I have family and friends in Utah and hope to fly down sometime after I burn my 40 hours. I would love to see some of your favorite flying destinations when I get into your area.

That would be great. Come on down. I used to live in Issaquah. Is that anywhere close to you?

No, I live in Liberty Lake, WA, just outside of Spokane. 20 minutes from Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. I will fly out of KSFF (Felts Field in Spokane).

Nice work. The flag looks good. Took me 5 short years as well.

I really like the solid red with two toned gold accents. Were those painted on or are they something along the vinyl line. Reminds me of a very light leaf floating in a gentle breeze. Very pretty.

The second thing I noticed was the swim noodles along the trailing edge of the flaperon. Definitely putting that on the list.

Congratulations!

That's a really eye catching plane. Nice job. If it flies as nice as it looks, you're going to be a happy fella for quite some time.

Looks really fine; a shinier red than my Oratex will be. What prop are you running?

its a trade off Gary. your airplane could be 30# lighter. Shiny is pretty nice though Ill admit. Laziness trumped the idea of shiny for me.
Im curious about whats on the engine cowling that seems to be masked. I can see the gold and what seems to be blurred out letters? I want to see the interior!

I see that I have missed a few posts. Been very busy getting the SS ready for inspection. First to Carl Strange and David E., I used the Stewart System Pontiac Red for my base coat and realized that I hate painting. So I went to vinyl decals for my gold trim. Which by the way if any one is interested, I have some AC Yellow for sale that has never been opened (Stewart System) PM me if interested. Carl, I cracked my head too many times on those flaperons so there lie the swim noodles. 😵 Gary, my prop is the Whirlwind. My empty weight came out at 736 pounds. Curious what others ended up with in a Super Sport. And Eddie, the blurred lettering on the cowling is top Super Sport, with Rotax 100 HP beneath that and an accent wave beneath that. All gold vinyl decals. And to everyone else, as soon as I finish the labeling on the panel, I will post panel photos in the Show Your Panel section.

Oh and by the way, I had my first start today with no issues. I tried to upload a video from my IPad and it tells me that the file type is not recognized. That 912 sounded wonderful. I am going down to Idaho for my tailwheel endorsement with Stick & Rudder and more training as I haven't flown PIC in 31 years. My first flight is looking to be about May 17 if my inspection goes well :)

Stan, congrats on several topics but really, way to go on the empty weight! She'll be a great performer. Betting the inspection goes well.

Oh great to hear Stan. Your story somewhat parallels my own. I have not PICd anything in 25 years myself and have the same plans made as you regarding Stick and Rudder. Great looking Kitfox. Congrats on the first start.

Stan, I'm really curious how you came out with a 736# empty weight? Mine came out 834#, almost 100 lbs heavier. In your empty weight did you include: engine oil & coolant, unusable fuel, fuel in the header tank, the bigger tires, all interior carpets/cushions, everything painted, baggage compartment, lift strut fairings? My weight also included the heavier duty ABW tailwheel.

Jim & Stan, my Series 5 came in at 833 LBS. Way to go Stan.
