I want to strengthen my kitfox 1.

I'm thinking about putting a rotax 670 on my kitfox 1 and I am wondering what I can do to strengthen the airframe. Does anyone have any experience reinforcing the airframe and making the mods needed to satisfy weight and balance and increases gross weight?

my model IV has had some mods done that supposedly increase gw from 1050 to 1200. mainly the lift strut diameters were increased and a solid rod was welded inside the fuselage tube that connects the attach fittings for the struts . not an issue with mine as i have grove gear but the bungee attach structure is a weak area and can collapse the tubes at the attach point

There are at least a couple of guys on this site that have strengthened their Kitfox 1 airplanes for a higher gross weight. One has a 912 and the other a Jabiru in their planes. Maybe they will see your post/question and respond. Have you tried searching the archives? Lots of good info there as well. JImChuk
