The winds aloft were a bit strong in Michigan today so I was practicing hovering. I couldn't quite get it to go into reverse but got down to zero ground speed. Then reversing course had it up to 170 MPH ground speed. The ground speed indication is at the bottom of the airspeed tape on the left.

I'm sure others have seen negative as well as very high ground speeds at times so post yours here.

Cool
I hope your runway wasn`t East and West!!!

Actually, my runway is east-west but the surface winds were only 14 gusting to 20 out of the south east. Enough to get your attention and keep you honest though.

Too cool, I just did a similar thing a few weeks ago, got to <10 mph forward speed @ 3500 ft, good fun. Surface winds were only ~12-15.

I once was doing this and kept trying to get the ground speed to go negative but it never would. I looked down and was moving slightly backwards over the ground.

Oh! The GPS only reports positive values for groundspeed.

Very cool John. But I'm wondering exactly how you got such good screen shots of your panel? They are super clear. I never have that kind of luck. Is that a Dynon unit?

With the G3X you can capture a screen shot. This must be what he did.

The screen is a Garmin G3X touch and if you hold the menu button for a couple of seconds, it will save a screen shot to the SD card.
