912 ul piston rings

Does anyone know can you buy ring kits ie.a complete set for a 912 ul I found CPS has them individually making a set worth close $ 600.00. ouch!:confused:I have rebuilt many of v8 engines and complete ring kits were half the cost.Should be available somewhere or is this just the Rotax way?

Sure, I have a late 90s 912 which sat for years, while inspecting the cylinders and pistons I found the rings to be stuck solid in the piston grooves due to carbon and lead buildup,and after much soaking in different solvents I was able to remove some of the rings but several broke.This engine is worth saving if I can buy parts reasonable.

I would suggest you contact Hal Stockton at Zipper. He often has used piston and rings. He can also set you up with a new Zipper kit for the 912 which will give you a real kick.
Hal is one of the best, most helpful guys I have ever run into. He helped me save my older 912 with tips and hints. Give him a call and he will help.
