Asking what everyone uses for coolant for their Rotax.
Thanks!

The water/glycol coolant is the only thing that makes much sense to me whether it is in a 582 or a 912 because you can always top off with water if you lose coolant somewhere away from home, as opposed to trying to find some Evans waterless coolant.

Dexcool, the orange kind, coolant is what is recommended.

That's what I and everyone else that I know who has a Rotax, 2 or 4 stroke uses.

Thanks! Is it a premix or do you have to dilute with water?

Beeryboats,

I started with evans - worked OK but always concerned myself with what to do if I needed coolant on a trip.......last year with a radiator change went to 60% dexcool (diluted the full strength stuff with distilled/deionized water - I'd stay away from tap water) ......dropped both the CHT and oil temps. Thinking the smart money is on Dexcool too.

I've always run a 50:50 mix with distilled water.

I know Prestone has the premix 50/50 Dexcool, I believe others have it too. I use the premix just for the convenience.

Dexcool is a must on the grey head as it doesn't have a ceramic waterpump seal,
The blue heads can use either but dexcool would be the first choice.

Thanks guys. Anyone have any idea how much I need to buy? The system is totally dry at this point. I assumed about two gallons, but that may not be enough.

Don't know about the 582 but for the 912 one gallon was more than enough.

I bought two just in case. I really had to look at the back labels and even had to google dexcool to find the right one.
