Need help with wiring between units. Don't know where 796 / #5/rs-232tx1 goes ???? Does 796/ power ground go to G-5 #6 signal ground? And do I also run signal ground back to ground on panel ? How do you hook up the rs-232's from gtr225 to Garmin a/p 305 ,G-5?

305 hooks to the G5 via can buss pg 57

signal ground black wire to pin 6 , text 1 blue wire to pin 4

looks like G5 pin 5 will not hook to the 795/796 it is a G5 text output

signal ground runs only pin 6 to black wire

your 795/796 must have a separate power and ground connection

found the manual

The wire harness for 796 has 16g black and white. The smaller wires has no black. Should I splice into the 16g to add a wire for pin #6? Thanks for the help

Contact Garmin Experimental support. They have been very helpful with these type of questions.

They can give you the wiring diagram for this, with the 796 substituted for the AERA 660.
