"D" window replacement

Hi guys,
I purchased my IV after it sat for 10 years. The right fuel tank had leaked and ruined the D window. It actually split the plastic between the stitches. I have new "glass" but need to know the best way to glue the new one in. There is very little room to run a fabric strip over the new plastic to the existing fuselage fabric on the forward edge. Plenty of room elsewhere, but I worry about the glue holding on the front edge. Anyone else have to change a D window?

Is the "D" window the little triangle behind the seat on each side? If that was it I would considering doing what the later models did. Forget the fabric and go with an aluminum framed lexan piece attached to the framing somehow. Someone should chime in with pictures.

I did a aluminum frame on the out side .this is how I attached it on the inside

That looks nice, but I'm in a repair mode and not sure how I could do that now. From what I've been told the original window was already sewn into the fuselage fabric. Or was there a fabric edge sewn to the window and then glued to the fuselage later? Regardless, there is very little room between the forward edge of the window and the steel tube of the fuselage. I guess I can try and glue it down. What's the worst that could happen, the window blow in? Big deal, it's so hot here the doors may be open most of the time anyway. The heat index was 96 degrees today.

Yeah, your old windows were stitched into a larger piece of triangular fabric. Then attached to the triangle frame.

Based on my assumptions... Hysol on scuffed up powder coat works really well. Do a tape wrap overlapping the old fabric to cover the radius around the tubes. Paint close enough to match. Cut out small sections of fabric for the mounting brackets. Hysol brackets to tube structure. Mount new window frame to brackets. Not a lot of stress there.

You could just get rid of them and fabric over that area. Just a thought
