I'm not too crazy about scissor jacks, too wobbly. Built my own fast acting (just slide to where the inboard end of the axle is in the notch, grab the end and pull up, slip the block under), stable jack. Reinforced the 2X4 on each side with luan plywood to prevent splitting where the notch for the axle is located. Photos attached.

Note - the blocks are screwed together, not loose pieces.

Great idea,I copied this yesterday when I had a wheel off.
I had no one to help lift my plane and a trolley jack won't fit safely with nanko tyres.I however used the jack under one end of the lift beam.
Simple and effective:)

Another take on the jack. Ever since I picked up TIG welding, everything becomes a welding project. This one was built from a Harbor Freight bottle jack and some drops from my local metal supplier. Inspired by another design I found on the web. The base plate gives it the stability it needs. It works well with my standard bungee gear and Nanco tires. Still needs some paint.

Very nice! There is always more than 1 way and it's even better if it can be made from scrap!

:)

Maybe one of these days I'll get to stop cringing from seeing people's lovely aircraft up on scary unstable rigs!
