What's the pressure rating? It's not listed anywhere that I could find.

Larry, according to the posts on the Matronix List-

Well I haven't tested it but it has the 1.2 stamped on top and looks and feels identical. I suspect it's the same part. "

"This OEM BMW radiator cap is a direct replacement for the 1.2 bar Rotax 912 part at less than half the price."

Okay, then. That sounds awesome! Rotax is asking like $80 for their cap? Now we just need an alternate source for Ignition boxes!

(I cheated and built my own expansion tank with a "normal" $3, 16 psi [1.1 bar] cap.)

Found another cap you may want to consider. Used by KTM, Husqvarna, and Husaberg bikes. Part #77335016000
KTM bike cap only 18Cdn Warning this is a 1.8 bar cap so your engine could get a little hotter before it opens the cap. The website says your boiling temperature will increase because of the higher pressure.
This cap was easy to get. The BMW cap was $60 cdn and had to be ordered.
1.8 bar = 26PSI
1.1 bar = 16PSI

26 psi is really high. At nearly twice the pressure you might risk blowing off hoses.

Agreed Especially with the 912s reputation for leaking hoses.

I realize this is a fairly old thread, but I wanted to drop a line here with some info on where to get the BMW radiator cap that works on the Rotax 912,
hopefully to help anyone looking for availability for far less than the Rtax price.

These are the specifics on the cap.
Vehicle Manufacturer: BMW
Application: BMW F650
Make/Model: F650 Funduro & ST
Model Years: 1996-2000
Vehicle Mfg. Part #: 17 11 2 345 074

As of October 2020, EuroMotoElectrics out of Denver CO has them, but if you search their website, it doesn't come up. However, if you paste the link
below into your browser it comes up. I found the link through a web search.

I got one very quickly for $41 shipping included. The cap I received appears to be exactly like the old one, has 1.2 stamped on the top, and fits
perfectly on my 912.
