Got one more project finished this weekend!
My IV had a standard one piece doors, that hinged at the top. These were custom made for the wide body mod. I desided to build cub style doors, top folds up
btm. folds down. I built the lower doors first as tall as I could and still clear the
wing strut. Then built the uppers. And all the misc. pieces! Will try to post some photos.:):):):)

If some could move this to the general section, that would be great!

Looks very interesting MIke. Does the bottom door make it awkward for entry and exit. Looks like it might get in the way. Have you been able to get much air time in your new fox yet.

Hi Norm, so far my fox is still in my shop. No air time yet! I have forced
Myself to finish my private ticket first. Almost done, still need to get the oral
And check ride done but that's it!
The door isn't in the way at all,I step on the tire and slide in like before.
Looking forward to tail dragger time soon!

Very unique for a Kitfox.... You will have to keep us informed as you take her flying! Well done!

The widening kit caused me to come up with my own door also. The top is round tubing and the rest are square. I used a modified Cessna latch on the door and my own latch stop. The panels are two piece with a cover strip in the middle, similar to what Lowell did. They are attached to the frame with pop rivets. this was months in the making, but worth it.

Good looking doors Mr. bill.

I have the wide body mod and love it. I did use the stock door frames but they took a lot of tweeking to make them work.
I notice the location of your door latches are quite far back on the door opening.
Hope they work ok. Seems like you may be scooping air with the front of the door skins in flight. Usually those type latches are installed about a fourth of the way back from the front of the door opening. Watch for accidental opening in flight.

Another mod I did on my model 4 wide-body was to move he door lift stut to the rear of the door. It makes getting in and out easier as there is more clearance at the door front.
