Yes, I did it again. Flew to Burning Man. I have not updated my blog yet and will let you know when I do. But, this year I had some passengers take video and I have one posted on YouTube of a landing on the dry lake bed after a scenic flight over the city.

You can see the city at about 5 seconds into the video when she pans forward over the instrument panel. Over 71,000 people living there for a week. At about 40 seconds the city comes back into view as we turn final. The runway is 5000 feet long with 10 mile overruns. I turn final over "the numbers" at about 300 feet with no wind so I will land with about 800 feet remaining and just roll off the runway. I don't like to taxi fast on such a rough and uneven surface and if I don't land long and have to taxi for any period of time other planes may have to go around. Braking just tears up the surface of the runway more.

The "high speed" taxiway comes into view at about one minute. But, if I exit there I am not in a good position to taxi to the parking area for pilots gifting rides over the city. I gave almost 40 this year. Two of them up to the hot springs about 25 miles north of the city at Soldier's Meadow 2 airport. A small gravel strip near the hot springs. The remainder were around the city.

I now have over 300 hours on my Model IV. Took 17 hours to fly to 88NV and 15 to fly home. Loved every minute of it.

Enjoy!
