Have a question on pilot, passenger arm.
My original paperwork listed 16.3
The kitfox website lists 18.3 on the IV Classic
Which should I use?? Mine is a 1200 if it matters:)
Thanks. Mike

I believe the pilot and passenger arm for all model 4s is 18.3 inches.

I just printed out the weight and balance sheet from the Kitfox web site. It gives the max aft CG of 16.00". If the aft max has been changed to 18.3 , I'd sure like to know. I have a long wing Model IV with all the Speedster options and my empty CG worked out to 14.81, which is a little far aft than I like, even with battery moved from behind the passenger seat to the passenger side of the firewall. I have the Grove gear and 912. I'd call John but I'm sure he's busy. So who's right? James Thomas

James, both are right.:) Maximum aft CG is 16 inches. Pilot and passenger arm is 18.3 inches.

Thanks for the info guys, still wondering about the original paper work listing
The pilot/pass arm at 16.3 though??
I did my weight and balance using 18.3 as listed on the kitfoxers site.
She's a little fatter than I wanted:) 681lbs w/rear header tank full, oil
And coolant. The cg as listed came in at 13.45.
I do have a large aluminum cargo area an big gear and tires and fat pneumatic tail wheel so that all adds
Up ! Still looks like it will have lots of payload left and the cg looks good.

My IV sits in the hangar with a tailweel lift so it is pretty close to level. just did a quick check of the pilot passenger datum and 18.3 came in about four inches or so forward of the lower back of the seat. At least in my airplane the 16.3 number would require much thicker upholstery than I have.
