So I finally trailered my (new to me) Series 7 with nosewheel home from Denver Colorado to Houston Texas (1200 miles).

I trailered it on a tandem axle 7 by 18 open steel deck car hauler. We put it on nose first with welded steel tail stand. We strapped it down at the mains and nose.

The aircraft had a factory transportation kit and was beautifully protected and rock solid in the tow configuration.

Let me tell you, it tows like a dream! It didn't do anything spooky.

Now that it is home, I will do a conditional and get it back in the air. It had sat a while since the original owner/builder had lost his medical.

I have always wanted a Kitfox and think this will be a great airplane to teach my kids to fly. I intend on swapping out the nose gear for tailwheel so the kids learn "proper" stick and rudder skills.

Looks good. You are doing what I'd like to do in a few years. My kids are one one the reasons I keep my CFI current. Have you looked into how you are going to do the insurance yet? I'm also in Houston (Woodlands), what airport will you be flying from?

Hangered at Hooks. Insurance no factor. Costello Insurance at a fantastic rate. Full coverage. Let me get her flying and fly off the remaining 30 hours of stage 1 and we can get together and do some flying.

I see something under the plane on the trailer. Bags of cement? That would be a great idea to ballast the trailer for a better ride for the airplane...

400 pounds of sand laying on the deck.

Originally the idea was that maybe with the a/c being a nosegear, maybe if we put weight in the seats, we might be able to eliminate the tail stand.

With two of us on board the cg was still aft of main gear with the wings folded. We elected not to board the sand and just go ahead with the tail stand.

It towed beautifully and everything made it safely.

Did you trailer with the root ends open?
